Jeep Rubicon Trail - The Long Winding Trail Through El Dorado And Placer County
Rubicon Springs CampWe have to say that we have thoroughly enjoyed every Jeep Jamboree we've participated in. They have all been top-shelf adventures, brought together with careful planning by a professional, caring, and very attentive staff. Each event is geared toward family, and participants usually come away hooked for life and with newfound friends. Each Jamboree is like a family reunion for some folks. We can honestly say that we have never heard one reasonable complaint. This Rubicon Run was no exception. Mark is co-owner of 400 acres in and around Rubicon Springs. As we negotiated the trail, we witnessed no less than 10 to 12 helicopter flights of food and camp supplies being brought into the springs. Accommodations consisted of specially built tents reminiscent of the gold-rush days. Friday night and Saturday were spent at camp, and the gourmet meals were prepared by chefs on site. We were greeted as we drove into camp Friday night by live piano music. Yes, the grand piano was flown in by helicopter. We thought that's what we'd seen in the cargo net. Saturday was spent in camp, with activities that included nature talks and walks conducted by Professor of Geology George Wheeldon, fly-fishing lessons, and very cool helicopter rides. Flying over the Rubicon trail and Sierra Nevada range is an adventure in itself. The Long Road HomeSunday put us back on the trail for the long trail ride back to Tahoe. For first-timers, the apprehension of Cadillac Hill weighed on some minds. The climb is a little rough and tough, but the group acceded its heights without incident. Miles of bumpy trails covered with the talc-like dirt then accompanied our way back to Tahoe. This was the first all-inclusive trip for Jeep Jamboree USA, and in everyone's eyes, it was a great success. As soon as the trip was posted on the group's Web site, it sold out in a matter of days.
