The Hell's Revenge Trail starts at the entrance to the Sand Flats Recreation Area. The fun starts right away as you ride along slickrock fins.
2007 Gonemoab Trail Designations
The Red areas are targeted toward a stock to highly modified 4WD Xterra, Frontier, Pathfinder, or Patrol. The idea behind this track is to allow first-time visitors to the trails of Moab to ease into things without getting too crazy right from the start. As on all trails, body damage is possible, but here it is unlikely. The trail leaders will take things a little slower than normal to make sure everyone enjoys himself.
The Blue areas are targeted toward a 4WD Xterra, Frontier, Pathfinder, or Patrol with some suspension modifications and sliders. Folks who go on these runs should have been on Moab trails before or be experienced four-wheelers. More will be expected from the attendees on these runs, and they will move at a faster rate than the RED runs.
The Green areas are targeted toward 2WD Nissan trucks and SUVs and 4WD trucks and SUVs without a Low-range transfer case. The two runs invlove scenic roads with a variety of views and outstanding Moab scenery. The Individual Adventure Days are open days to explore the rest of the Moab area and participate in other outdoor activities.
The Black areas are extremely difficult runs. There are equipment requirements for each trail. As in all goneMOAB trail runs, the trail leader has the option to not allow individuals on the run if he/she feels that that individual does not have the experience or the equipment necessary for the run.
Ty Pemer made the trek to Moab with his supercharged '03 Xterra. This sweet machine is stock in the driveline department but has been outfitted with a front winch bumper, spare tire bumper, rock sliders, and roof rack. Ty selected BFG All-Terrain T/AKO tires. Here, Ty is just beginning the Hell's Revenge Trail. | Steve Kramer, owner of Calmini and a goneMOAB sponsor, took the lead on the Moab Rim Trail on day two. His rig of choice is a '90 Hardbody pickup that has been converted to a flatbed. Of course, this truck has all the Calmini goodies on it: 3.91:1 T-case gears, straight-axle suspension, rocker skids, rear-axle skid, rollcage, and more. The front and rear axles sport Superior axleshafts, 5.13 gears, and lockers (Steve chose an ARB for the front and a Detroit for the rear). The tires are BFG 35x12.5R15 Mud-Terrains on 15x8 Allied Rock-a-Thon beadlock wheels. | Ryan Gee lives in Aurora, Colorado, so Moab is practically in his backyard. He made the Moab Rim Trail look easy in his '95 Pathfinder. This Nissan is equipped with a late-model five-speed tranny, 4:1 Calmini T-case gears, 4.88 gears and an Ox locker in the front, and 4.90 gears and a Detroit in the rear. Ryan also has a custom long-arm suspension system and 35x12.5R15 Super Swamper SSR tires. |
Jason Lawshe of Nissan North America and his crew brought out an '05 Nissan Xterra for the event. This Nissan is outfitted with a Nismo cold-air intake and headers, a Calmini 5-inch lift, as well as front and rear bumpers. The stock wheels were replaced with Nismo 18-inch alloys and sport 286/65R18 BFG All-Terrain T/AKO tires. | Some of the climbs along the Hell's Revenge Trail are steep and long. Here, a steady foot on the throttle and a commitment to not stop until the top is reached is essential. | Daniel Swislon showed everyone why the Tipover Challenge obstacle on the Hell's Revenge Trail is more difficult than it looks. Amazingly, Daniel didn't tip over, but he came close twice before going around. We would bet that a rear locker is in his plans for upgrades. |
