The 2005 Chile Challenge
Rob Harris attacked Nemesis II, and it bit back hard. He decided not to secure the winch line. As he crested the top lip, the front wheels lifted and the Scorpion did a pirouette onto the lid.
Keep it simple: Paul Buback's rough-looking CJ-7 demonstrates this theory well.
Las Cruces local Ray Torres leads a large group through the aptly named series of obstacles known as Nemesis I and II and Patzucuaro's Revenge.
When you're as wide as this Samurai, you can take lines that leave others on their side.
Tim Terry's Samurai is powered by an LT1 and is fit with dual winches - just in case.
A winch has almost become mandatory for Nemesis II, due to safety concerns. Lance Gilbert's Plain Vanilla, a '76 CJ-7, made the obstacle without assistance. The Jeep was built with an LT1 engine, Sunray 609 front axle, and a 35-splined and spooled 9-inch rear axle.
Tom Elliston of Sunray Engineering made Nemesis II look easy. A Chevy 413ci small-block motivates Tom's Jeep.
Kyle Peveyhouse, in Broad Canyon, made this obstacle look easy.
Test Rock is a nice warm-up and, for some, an eye-opener. This CJ-5 made a great effort before the winch line was attached.
Here, Tom Elliston is on the last waterfall on Patzucuaro's Revenge. The combination of water and a deep set of holes sent many participants through the bypass.
