Toyota Off-Road - TTORA TakeOver

We had a generous amount of FJ Cruisers with us showing off the capabilities of this still very-new vehicle. Many of the trails in Farmington have some scary off-camber sections. This photo really doesn't do this trail justice - there are certain things you just have to experience in person.

This didn't happen during TakeOver, but I thought I would snap a photo of this rock damage because not only is it a true off-road badge of experience, the owner of this FJ even wrote where it happened (Poughkeepsie Gulch) right on the vehicle.

Marco Lozano of League City, Texas, made his way to Farmington to join in the fun and represent the Texas TTORA chapter. His '05 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab longbed 4x4 was probably the longest and lowest vehicle in our group. He hit a few snags but never gave up. Fortunately, he equipped his rig with a strong ARB front bumper sporting a Warn M8000 winch. Marco told me that although his trek to TakeOver was not nearly as far as mine, three tire blowouts along the way resulted in just as much time on the road.

Who says you can't four-wheel with a long-travel suspension system The wider stance and increased amount of wheel travel helped this single-cab Tacoma tackle a few pretty sketchy sections with ease.

Although we encountered many narrow passes, the majority of the trails were friendly to even the longer-wheelbase vehicles such as this '01 Toyota Tacoma.
