During our weekend, we used Charles A. Wells's book Guide to Arizona Backroads and 4 Wheel Drive Trails. We followed a route Wells calls Smiley Rock, and it was rated difficult. The opening miles outside of Jerome were easy, but Wells rates the whole trail difficult (or easy or moderate) if just one section is difficult. View Related Article
