2009 Chile Challenge Ledges
When it comes right down to it, the ledges are probably what keep people coming back to Las Cruces every spring. The numerous limestone ledges are primarily what give the most famous of the Chile Canyon trails their "extreme" rating. The ledges come in three sizes; Big, Bigger, and Stupid. Jeff and Laurie Rector were down from Rio Rancho, New Mexico, to run the rocks and model their February rockcrawling fashions.

In between the famous ledges of the extreme trails, there is also plentiful and sizable mineral on which to perfect the art of rockcrawling. If rockcrawling is an art (and it is!) then Jim Bailey is one of its recognized artists. Jim eases his purpose-built crawler over one of the boulder piles in Tabasco Twister.
