It's all about fun, right? Right! The Mile-Hi Jeep Club of Denver, Colorado, continues to host its exciting and challenging All-4-Fun event year after year. If this is the first time you've heard about the club's event, we have to tell you that we wouldn't miss it for the world. To keep All-4-Fun fresh and exciting, the club moves the event to a different part of the state each year. The week-long, 41st annual event took place in the small town of Salida in Chaffee County.
If you like Jeeps, Rocky Mountain scenery, challenging trails, easy trails, and a great time, then we are sure this is the event for you. There is a little something at All-4-Fun for everyone: First-timers and hardcore veteran crawlers are equally welcome. This event is really an awesome way to introduce yourself to some new four-wheeling friends and a great way to hit the trail with a friendly and very organized club.
Salida is an outdoorsman's paradise and sits in a picturesque valley about 100 miles west of Colorado Springs. The area surrounding this valley is called the "fourteener region." This is because there are more 14,000-foot mountains around Salida than anywhere else in the state. The views from any part of the valley are spectacular, but the views from the trails are even more astounding.
Mile-Hi Jeep Club members are experienced four-wheel enthusiasts and usually know the event locations and trails like the backs of their hands. After all, they've been hosting this event for the last 41 years. Most of these folks are locals, so as a bonus you usually get a guided historical tour of the area while you are out wheeling.
This year, the event had an incredible 398 Jeeps and 999 registered participants in attendance. All-4-Fun is also a great way to check out the different kinds of Jeeps and how they are built. You will always find the cool old low-dollar build, and you will even find some Jeeps put together with astronomical amounts of disposable income. We find it very interesting to just walk around and see who has what.
Not only is All-4-Fun a good time, it's also a good cause. Over the years, Mile-Hi has taken proceeds from the event and donated to the Denver Children's Hospital Burn Camp. To date, they have raised over $165,000 for a very commendable cause. The Denver hospital is one of the best children's hospitals in the country.
Each night after the trail runs, the club and its sponsors host excellent meals, provide a beer wagon, raffle off prizes, and have some form of entertainment. The raffle prizes alone are usually worth the drive to the event and always come from the industry's top manufacturers. The raffles are set up so just about everyone in attendance walks away with a prize.
