At the time of writing this month's GeoStash page, I haven't had a winner for January or February 2006. I suspect this will be short lived. I received an e-mail last night from a subscriber telling me he knew the correct location of January's marker, but it was too far for him to drive. This is the fifth month of the GeoStash contest, and to date I have very excited participants and winners. My e-mail inbox is inundated with e-mails telling me readers are having a great time just looking for the coordinates in the magazine, even if they can't get out on the trail to look for the marker. For the November 2005 contest, Jeff Law of San Diego, California, won some very cool Road Armor bumpers. Douglas Horne from Salt Lake City, Utah, and two of his sons have found the marker for December and won TeraFlex's New Extreme Short Shaft Kit. January's DPG Rock Attack bumper and February's Team Yellow Power Tank are still up for grabs.

For March 2006, the GeoStash prize is a Rubicon Express Tri-Link option for TJ and LJ applications. This truss kit allows you to take your four-link Rubicon suspension and change it to a three-link design. The kit is designed to integrate seamlessly; the same high-quality materials are used in this product as all other Rubicon products we have seen. The new Rubicon Builder Ball is at the heart of the tri-link with its incredible ability to achieve up to 32 degrees of misalignment. Finished in Rubicon Grey powdercoat.

The launch of the GeoStash contest started with the November 2005 issue (Vol. 21, No. 11). For those of you picking up this magazine for the first time, hidden somewhere in the pages are two GPS coordinates (lat/lon). The coordinates will not be hidden in the magazines ads. Once you find the coordinates in these pages they will pinpoint a location somewhere in the continental U.S. Hidden at that location is a laser-cut steel plate (marker). When the marker is found and redeemed with me, the lucky contestant will win a very cool prize donated by one of our advertisers. Attached to the marker is a disposable camera, take a photo of yourself at the location of the marker and send it to me. We would really prefer a digital image if you have the camera.

It is very IMPORTANT that you check our Web site's GeoStash page (www.4wdandsportutility.com) before you run off hunting for the marker. I can't stress this enough. The Web page is updated almost daily regarding the status of each month's marker. It also contains the full rules and regulations of the contest. On this page you will also find important clues about the coordinates hidden in the magazine. Keep in mind that some of the trail adventure articles and tech reviews in the magazine contain lat/lon coordinates. They may or may not be part of the Geostash contest. The Geostash page on our Web site will tell you which coordinates are not part of the contest.
