We tried to bag or box everything we had but still ended up with more floating flashlights, loose tools, rolls of paper towels, and duct tape than we liked bumping around and blowing away. Once was enough, we decided, and called up Tuffy Security Products as soon as we got back home.
Located in Cortex, Colorado, Tuffy Security Products designs and builds some of the coolest and sturdiest consoles, security gloveboxes, and cargo area lockboxes, trunks, and security drawers. All Tuffy products are manufactured from 11-gauge or 16-gauge steel, are MIG- and TIG-welded, and are coated with a textured powdercoat for years of protection. The locking Tuffy products feature the company's Pry-Guard locking system, which includes a cylindrical lock that's reinforced using 11-gauge steel.
For use in our Project Pull Me Over TJ, we went with the black powdercoated speaker and storage lockbox set. The set includes two lockboxes that are equipped with 5-1/4-inch speaker mounts and grilles. The boxes secure to the vehicle wheelwells using provided Grade-8 mounting hardware and are keyed alike with two keys supplied. We installed the boxes in about an hour using basic handtools and a drill, and they don't interfere with the soft top or any other stock components. Tuffy speaker and storage lockboxes are available for Jeep CJs, YJs, and TJs, and the Land Rover Defender 90.
