As April draws near, there are literally thousands of us four-wheel-type people frothing at the mouth in anticipation of the upcoming Easter Jeep Safari (EJS) in Moab, Utah. This year's event will be held April 8 to 16, and as always will be hosted by the Red Rock 4Wheelers. The setting for this adventure is phenomenal with perhaps some of the most wondrous wheeling trails this country - perhaps the world - has to offer.
The red slickrock trails, canyons, mesas, gullies, spires, and arches haunt our days and fill our nighttime dreams throughout the year. Once we are there, the majority of us feel as though this week-long event is an adventure in paradise.
EJS has been held since 1967, and if you have never attended the event, then it is something you should really think about doing sometime soon. Unfortunately, the ever-increasing pressure from environmentalists has a few of us worried that someday the whole area could be shut down to vehicle travel.
There is a little bit of something for everyone in Moab and its surrounding areas. The four-wheeling can be as difficult and scary as you can handle, or there are trails that leisurely meander though fiery red canyons and crest scenic mesas holding picture-perfect postcard views.

Happy wheeling, and I'll see you there.kevin.mcnulty@primedia.com
