Tube Rock Buggy - The Banshee

Its butt may not be the most flattering view, but it shows some of the new thinking that went into the Banshee. There is a lot of formed aluminum here, and the inset spare is certainly a practical approach to the ageold problem of where to put the dang thing - in this case a 37x12.50R17 Krawler on a trailready rim.	This picture tells quite a bit about the Banshee, its philosophy, and appearance. It'd have been a lot easier to use basic auxiliary lighting, but the styling of the Power Wagon headlights combined with real high and low beam lights both makes a statement and is far more functional. And then there's the hidden Warn 9.0R winch that isn't, those removable fenders, and.	Needless to say, the Prindle brothers got a screaming deal on the Eaton Detroit lockers, so that's what went into the Currie front 9-inch and Rock Jock Dana 60 rear axles, both with reverse-cut 4.88 gears. Here, you can also see how the removable front fenders are attached atop the steering arms. This is an idea that just might catch on.
It doesn't get much simpler than this, at least not in a buggy that is equipped with full instrumentation (by Nordskog), a heater system, and wipers. Notice the tilt steering column, CB radio, and stereo.	This ls2 is bumped up to over 500 horses and is what makes the Banshee scream - literally. Since there was a short delay before the ear-piercing noise began on startup, and another delay before it quit when shutting the 6-liter engine off, we suspect a vacuum leak somewhere which didn't get fixed in the rush to ready the car for the show circuit. But hey, that little hiccup made the Banshee moniker completely appropriate. Regardless, marvel the utter cleanliness of this Navajo-brake-booster-equipped engine compartment. And that's with a windshield wiper motor included, something not usually found on a tube buggy.
