There's another 4.56 ring-and-pinion set and an Eaton ELocker lurking behind the diff cover of the Dynatrac Dana 44 front axle. Tom notes that 4.88 gears would have been a bit better in his case. With the 33s and the tranny's overdrive, he can do 75 mph on the highway at 2,200 rpm. Although the low rpm combined with high mph is good for fuel economy most of the time, the tranny does a bit too much downshifting, even on mild highway hills. View Related Article
