Chris Johnson of Hesperia, California, braved the single-digit temperatures in his chop-top '86 4Runner for the drive to and from the nearby Hammer Trails. A front straight-axle conversion and a bobbed rear make the rig more capable, along with the 5.29 gears, a Detroit Locker up front and a welded rear diff, Marlin low gears, and 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler tires.
