Behind the engine, the factory drivetrain remains in stock form using the H41 four-speeed manual transmission and Toyota split transfer case. The front and rear Land Cruiser axles are equipped with ARB Air Lockers and 4.11 gears, and the lockers are actuated using an ExtremeAir onboard air compressor. The front axle also uses chrome-moly axleshafts from Longfield Super Axles.
Other vehicle highlights include a custom rear bumper with an integrated rear winch mount. The rear mount holds a Warn M12000 winch that's neatly tucked away beneath the tub floor and protected by a custom skidplate. The front bumper also houses a Warn M8274-50 winch so Randy's FJ can handle forward and rearward extractions. Additionally, an underhood-mounted Mobi-Arc welder is in place so on-trail repairs can be performed in the event that damage occurs. The Mobi-Arc welder receives power from a dedicated high-amp alternator and dual Odyssey PC1700 batteries.
With fewer and fewer stock-bodied Land Cruisers on the trail each year, it's satisfying to see one such as Randy's that exemplifies this classic Toyota model so well.

The interior of Randy's FJ40 still has a factory feel with the stock rubber floor mats, seats, and dashpad still in place. A Tuffy security console was installed, along with a few gauges to monitor engine performance. | Randy built custom rocker guards for each side of the FJ40. The rockers follow the body lines well and also tie in to the frame. | |
