Washington Road & Recreation Atlas
Benchmark Maps has a reputation for producing extravagantly detailed atlases, and its most recent production on the state of Washington is no exception. The oversized 10-3/4x15-1/2-inch atlas is roughly divided into three major sections. First is a nine-page introduction that includes a map of U.S. highways, a regional map of the Northwest, and a map of Washington. Second is a series of 10 recreational maps that offer a wide range of information on parks, campgrounds, and an array of outdoor recreational activities. The third section is devoted to a series of 40 maps that have been drawn to a scale of 1:200,000 and feature very precise details about the lay of the land. The maps include longitude and latitude coordinates for GPS calculations and differentiate between seven different types of roads, including unpaved and 4WD.
For those interested in traveling both the highways of Washington as well as the lesser known byways, this atlas is an essential part of the trip.
