The central control unit contains the alternator's external regulator and has jacks for the welding leads as well as a 115-volt DC power source. The power source is capable of powering many tools and accessories, including any AC brush-driven handtools such as grinders, saws, and sanders, in addition to halogen and incandescent lights, electric frying pans, coffeepots, blenders, a George Foreman Grill, blow-dryers, and more.

Several types of welding rod are available from any welding supply store. Though larger 6011 rods are shown and work well for on-trail repairs, Premier recommends use of 3/32-inch 7018 or 7014 welding rods for their strength and versatility. A length of PVC pipe with end caps is a convenient way to store welding rod.

The stinger/electrode lead is used to hold a length of welding rod.

Once the power switch is on, the stinger is hot and will arc to any metal surface attached to the ground lead. As with any welder, you'll get the best results welding to a clean surface free of paint and debris.

Still, the high-frequency penetration capability of the Premier unit is said to agitate the weld puddle 7 to 10 times more than a conventional welder, which effectively collects the impurities and brings them to the surface of the weld. This makes the Premier Power Welder very easy to use for amateur welders.

After passing across the weld surface with the stinger lead and weld rod, a chipping hammer is used to clean the slag from the weld bead.

As you can see, the Premier Power Welder is very capable of producing a well-penetrating and good-looking weld, and it can do it in your driveway just as easily as it can in the middle of nowhere.
