With the launch of a new vehicle usually comes the anticipation of aftermarket performance parts to accessorize it from stem to stern. It's not too often that the actual company producing the vehicle also cranks out good-quality off-road trail accessories - but that's not so in this case. For some die-hard, brand-loyal enthusiasts, there is nothing better than bolting on Mopar accessories.
Mopar is the first to design, build, and offer tough steel bumpers and rocker guards for the Jeep Wrangler JK. The bumpers are constructed from 3/16-inch steel and provide greater protection of the vehicle over the stock bumpers - and they look good. The bumpers also meet and pass all federal crash and safety standards.
Before the release of the JK, we had the opportunity to be the first kids on our block to visit Mopar and watch its technician bolt the very first set of new bumpers and rocker guards to the '07 Wrangler. We have to say that it was quick and simple and as easy as bolting bumpers on the old TJ.

The bumpers come with complete, easy-to-follow instructions. The installation is very simple and can be completed by a person with minimal mechanical ability. Starting on the front of the Jeep, the air deflector below the bumper was removed. This was accomplished by removing four plastic fasteners.

Next, the front grille came off; there are two plastic screw-type fasteners on the upper left and upper right corners. Once the fasteners were removed, the bottom of the grille simply unsnapped from the lower portion of the radiator support crossmember.

The plate between the grille and the bumper was removed. This is held in place with two screw-type fasteners at each end.

The front bumper was removed...

The front bumper was removed by unfastening the four bolts at the end of each framerail. The bumper was carefully lowered down, and the foglight wires were unhooked before lower-ing the bumper to the ground. The new steel bumpers do not come with foglights, and if your Jeep doesn't have foglights already they are available separately from Mopar.

The front factory towhooks...

The front factory towhooks have the front bumper's mounting bolts pressed into them. The towhook bolts were placed through the front of the bumper to mount it. Then, the cover was placed over the towhooks and bolted in place. Once this was done, the bumper was able to be raised to the front of the Jeep's frame and bolted in place.

If you decide to run a winch,...

If you decide to run a winch, mount it according to the manufacturer's installation instructions. This bumper was designed for the winch to sit below the radiator for better airflow and cooling.

Rear bumper removal and installation...

Rear bumper removal and installation was as easy as the front.
