More Strength and Versatility
The Iron Jock accepts all stock Dana 60 covers as well as the aluminum Rock Jock diff cover. The axletubes were pressed in by Currie Enterprises and then drilled and tapped through the six holes in the tubes of the Iron Jock casting.
The interlocking keys on the steering arms and knuckles are a very cool feature. They allow for precise centering of the arm on the knuckle and provide added strength to the bolts used to secure the arm to the knuckle.
We acquired a set of Dana 60 spindles from Offroad Design. Bearing hubs and rotors, which were already drilled for 5-on-5-1/2 wheel bolt pattern, came from Parts Mike. Warn supplied a set of its premium hubs.
ARB provided two Air Lockers for the project. The 4.30 reverse-rotation gearsets and install kits came from Precision Gear.
Extra structural webbing is cast into the housing to provide increased support to the pinion area. The Iron Jock is also designed to accept Currie's Jock Strap skidplate made from AR400 abrasion-resistant material.
Crane Inner Cs are made from 8630 chrome-moly steel and offer a 3-inch bore size. Other sizes are also available.
A flow-through circulating lubrication system is one of the major benefits of the Iron Jock over conventional high-pinion Dana 60s. With the Iron Jock lubrication system, the pinion gear and bearings receive a continual bathing of gear oil through large channels in the casting located above and below.
Once our desired front axle width is determined, we'll weld on a set of Crane High Clearance Dana 60 Inner Cs. The Inner Cs will then receive Crane's HSC 60 steering knuckles, which feature interlocking steering arms and also include caps and spring plates. The knuckles are manufactured from 8630 chrome-moly, and the steering arms are made from cold-rolled steel.
Able to accommodate a variety of suspension configurations, the Iron Jock features threaded mounting bosses at the top of the housing. Currie Enterprises also offers a universal suspension component mounting bridge that secures to either side of the housing and passes over the top.
