AGR Rock Ram Steering Install - Steer Pressure
The AGR cylinder was also secured to the new tie-rod mounts.
With the AGR ram cylinder in place, the Off Road Evolution crew cut the provided hose to the proper length and installed the necessary fittings.
The new lines were then secured to the AGR Rock Ram cylinder.
Mel routed the cylinder supply and return lines to the fittings on the side of the new steering gear.
The new fluid reservoir was mounted to the grille support rod using the provided bracket. I'm not certain I like the mounting, but it's actually more secure than it looks. It was necessary to remove the stock windshield washer fluid reservoir to create space, and we'll likely relocate it or install some sort of an alternative at a later time.
To finish off the installation, Mel topped off the steering system reservoir with Royal Purple Max EZ synthetic power steering fluid. The hydraulic system was then bled of air bubbles before we took a testdrive.
With the installation complete, our TJ provided quick steering response with limited effort. Though the highway driving characteristics are greatly improved, we're mostly looking forward to the decreased steering effort through difficult obstacles that would previously create binding in the steering system.
