Jeep TJ Stereo Installation - Tune In, Turn Up

The Sony stereo bracket was slid into the Quadratec single-DIN dash adapter and secured by bending up the metal locking tabs using a flat-blade screwdriver.

The wiring harness supplied with the Quadratec install kit was attached to the factory stereo wiring harness. Since we're also installing new speakers, we'll splice the new speaker wiring harness into the appropriate leads and test them before completing the stereo installation.

To begin installation of the VDP overhead sound pods, we measured 11-1/2 inches out from the side support on the center rollbar hoop. There, we drilled a 3/8-inch hole where the sound-pod mounting stud will secure.

With the sound-pod mounting stud secured to the center hoop, we used the provided self-tapping screws to attach the sound pods to the side bars.

Here, the VDP overhead sound pods from Quadratec are shown installed on the rollbar. Notice where we used a portion of rollbar padding to cushion the sound pod mounts and act as spacers so they would sit level. Each pod features a push-button on/off dome light that can be turned on with or without the key in the ignition.

The single-DIN dash adapter was then installed in the dash using the factory hardware. With the wires routed through the adapter, the Sony head unit was installed.

With the stereo protection collar in place, we installed the supplied screws to secure the flip-down stereo face onto the head unit.

With the new Sony CDX-GT400 stereo head unit in place, the center dash bezel was installed. The Quadratec dash adapter also features a location for CD storage.

As a final step in the installation,we routed the provided wiring harness.
