The Trail Guide requires a wiring-harness connection to the power plug at the bottom of the dashpanel. The dash on the JK easily snaps apart with push tabs; only four screws need to be removed after that.

The wiring harness snaps into the back of the factory power plug or cigarette lighter outlet. Once connected, you can simply run the wires up the dash and behind the radio. The radio slides out once two screws are removed. We took care not to allow the new wiring to interfere with the mechanical heater and air controls.

Drilling is required to mount the docking station (cradle). The Trail Guide kit includes an easy-to-use template so drilling is spot-on perfect. This is the underside of the dash top showing the template. The docking station simply screws to the top of this.

Here, the Trail Guide's wiring is installed and ready to plug in. If you connect the harness to the power adapter, the nav unit will have continuous power. If you connect it to the cigarette outlet, the unit will only receive power when the key is in the "on" position.
