The provided heat shield trim was installed, and the heat shield was bolted loosely in place.

The heat shield mounts to the factory airbox stud and is secured using a factory bolt.

For additional support, a provided L-bracket secures the heat shield to a factory hole in the fenderwell.

With the stock air tube removed, the K&N silicone hose was secured over the throttle body opening using a provided hose clamp.

The K&N intake tube was then set atop the silicone hose on the throttle body and secured in place with a new hose clamp.

The new open-element K&N air filter was then installed on the air tube. The heat shield helps stabilize the air tube to minimize vibration. The suggested filter cleaning interval is 30,000 to 50,000 miles depending on how much trail use your vehicle sees. Excessively dusty trails may necessitate more frequent cleanings. With proper cleaning, K&N air filters can last for as long as the life of your engine.

As a final step, the new crankcase vent line was installed between the K&N air tube and the valve cover.

The new K&N filter makes regular air filter changes cheaper since we can wash and reuse the open-element air filter instead of tossing it and buying a new one. As long as you have the proper filter oil for lubrication after washing, no trips to the parts store are required.
