Power To Play Switches
Switches come in a wide variety for accessories you may add. The voltage rating is not important for auto use, but always ensure the switch you choose can handle the current flow for your load, or use a relay to switch the heavy current supply wire.		 Power To Play Electrical Connectors
Connectors are often the most common areas of failure in an auto electrical system. Always take care when making connections and check them first when troubleshooting a problem. Sometimes simply unplugging and plugging a connector back together can help break through contact-surface corrosion that may be causing problems. Electrical-contact cleaner can be used if needed. Weather-Pak connectors are good for making reliable harness connections that need to allow disconnection. They are available in numerous pin counts at most auto parts suppliers. Used by a number of auto manufacturers, their pins mate tightly and a pliable gasket is used to seal out dirt and moisture.
Power To Play Silicone Dielectric Grease
Nonconductive silicone dielectric grease can be applied in connectors to keep water out and prevent corrosion that can lead to poor conductivity across the connector pins.		 Power To Play Relay Diagram Power To Play Crimp Connectors
Crimp-style automotive connectors are quick and easy to use. For ultimate reliability, ensure the wire ends are carefully stripped and the crimps are formed using the proper tool. Poor quality crimps always seem to fail at the worst time.
Power To Play Voltage Test Meter
It's good to own a test meter that can measure voltage and resistance (to check for continuity in a connector or wire). Even though inexpensive meters can help you troubleshoot basic auto circuits, they just won't have the ruggedness or high-current measurement capabilities. Do not use a test light or inexpensive meter when checking engine computer circuits as these can damage such modules.
