Eric's YJ uses Rubicon Express spring-over leaf packs and also has a Vanco hydroboost system for the brakes. We mention this as his swap won't be exactly like yours, but it did show how relatively simple it is to do.
Hardened front and rear axles... Hardened front and rear axles from Alloy USA ensure that Eric won't be breaking axles on the trail. The Alloy USA front axles include hardened 1550 U-joints with full-circle clips. | Tom Wood's Custom Drive Shafts... Tom Wood's Custom Drive Shafts supplied its JK Rubicon Dana 44 pinion flanges. | Tom Wood also rebuilt, refurbished,... Tom Wood also rebuilt, refurbished, and shortened Eric's front and rear CV driveshafts, so they'd work with the Atlas and JK 44s. |
37x14.00-17 Interco Irok bias-ply... 37x14.00-17 Interco Irok bias-ply tires are mounted on 17x8 Walker Evans Racing beadlock wheels with 5-on-5 bolt circle and 4.5-inch backspacing. The JK Rubicon Dana 44s are 65 inches wide from wheel-mounting surface to wheel-mounting surface. | The factory YJ is 61 inches... The factory YJ is 61 inches wide, so the new front and rearends are 2 inches wider per side. Even with the extra width, the Irok/Walker Evans combination doesn't stick out too far. | The beefy Atlas transfer case... The beefy Atlas transfer case has a 4.3:1 low range. Eric's never owned an Atlas-equipped Jeep before, so he will have a great time learning how it can pull him around tight corners in front-wheel drive, among other things. A Skyjacker YJ 5th Link stops axlewrap - especially important with Eric's spring-over setup. The 5th Link really works. |
A Fox steering stabilizer... A Fox steering stabilizer keeps the Jeep on track. We told you in the last installment about Mount Logan Off-Road's cool aluminum drag link and tie rod. | | |
