These seats have the optional... These seats have the optional adjustable lumbar insert. A knob on the side of the seat allows you to adjust the lumbar up to 3" forward. Once you settle in the seat, adjusting the lumbar places a firmness on your lower back for additional support and comfort. Seat options also include adjustable headrests and seat heaters for those of you residing in more frigid climates or who spend more time exposed to winter temps. | The seat frames are constructed... The seat frames are constructed from mandrel-bent 3/4" mild-steel tubing that is MIG welded to form the seat structure. Bottom mount plates offer several hole patterns. | Underneath the upholstered... Underneath the upholstered cover lies Mastercraft's Full Suspension Liner and Double Pirelli Seat Straps. This is the same internal construction of their full race seats. High density foam pieces are applied to build up the seat areas for comfort and protection. Nylon parachute cord holds the liner in place on the frame. The covers are made from a high-quality Rogue Naugahyde and the center sections made from a close-weave nylon fabric. Mesh materials are also used to allow moisture to dry and allow the seat to breathe. |
Mastercraft has mounting brackets... Mastercraft has mounting brackets available to mate up to a variety of popular vehicles. Fortunately, they had brackets for our Tacoma that mounted right up to the stock threaded holes in the floorpan. A tab on the rear bracket is provided for a seat belt mount point and the stock belt latch can bolt up. | The seats can be mounted in... The seats can be mounted in a fixed position for simplicity, but we opted for the usual sliders to provide us with about 6 inches of fore-aft adjustment. The sliders bolt easily to the seat base and then their studs slide into the Mastercraft floor mount brackets. | Here you can see the base... Here you can see the base of the seat mounted in the cab. The base seat height is about the same as the stock Toyota buckets but the base side panels rise a bit higher to hold you firmly in the seat. The aluminum recliner release knob is visible here on the side of the seat base. |
The complete installation... The complete installation took less than an hour and was easily accomplished with the supplied hardware. We found the standard size seats fit us well, but Mastercraft offers custom size seats to accommodate most any driver needs. | Typical of high performance... Typical of high performance seating, the Baja RS can accommodate 5-point harnesses, with an anti-submarine strap and shoulder harnesses. We got a pair of the Mastercraft black 3" harnesses for our seats. | At the time of this installation,... At the time of this installation, we had not yet installed the harnesses. Since our truck has an extended cab and no cage cross-bar mounted directly behind the seats, we'll need to come up with a mount plan. We thought the stock Toy seats were nice but the Baja RS seats offer a considerable step up in comfort and they hold you securely in place where you should be when bumping down the trail. We like the reclining feature too. |
