There are some folks who would never be caught dead with doors on their Jeeps. Others prefer the warmth of their heaters or chill of A/C and keep the windows on their hard doors rolled up 24/7. We find ourselves somewhere in the middle on this since we adapt our door status seasonally. The hard doors last a few months through winter but once those hot summer trail days approach we quickly go doorless to get some air flow through the cab.
While definitely cooler with the doors off, there are safety issues that arise. With nothing in the door frame to act as a protective layer between occupants and trail obstacles you might find yourself leaning further in to the cab to avoid getting "pinstriped" by heavy trail-side brush or impaled by a tree branch. While the factory half doors can remedy this issue they still don't permit as much airflow as going doorless. The middle of the road option is Moab 4x4 Outpost's new half doors, which offer a good level of protection and ample airflow to the cab.
The Jeep half doors from Moab 4x4 Outpost are available in aluminum or steel and are available for Jeep CJ-7, YJ, and TJ models. The doors are sold in pairs and are shipped bare metal so that they can be paint-matched to your vehicle color or polished and sealed for that "freshly-fabbed" look. Paddle-handle latches are included with each door and secure to the factory door pins for an easy bolt-in installation. Since the factory door pins are retained the Moab 4x4 Outpost half doors can be quickly swapped on in place of the full doors for a weekend trail run, and pulled back off just as easily for the commute to work on Monday.
Since we received our set of doors, Moab 4x4 Outpost has added an additional brace for added strength. The braces sit on the top of each door at the bend leading up to the forward door jamb. We haven't experienced any issues with the doors bending or over flexing but the braces are now in place to ward off such metal fatigue. |

Installing the M4O half doors is an easy job. In fact, we spent more time removing the factory full doors than we did hanging the new half doors. We picked up some new bolts and nuts at the local hardware store so the doors would stay securely fastened to the Jeep. |
