The front bump stop extension is installed inside the coil spring on top of the stock bump stop pad | With the front spacers and... With the front spacers and bump stop extensions in place the new Zone shocks were installed. |
Zone Offroad's 2-inch Coil... Zone Offroad's 2-inch Coil Spacer kit includes front and rear coil spring isolators, bump stop extensions, and installation hardware. We also elected to install Zone's valve-specific shock upgrade and a new steering stabilizer. | Have you ever wondered if... Have you ever wondered if you can fit five 33x12.50R17 tires, five 17x9 wheels, and a 2-inch lift kit in a JK? Probably not, but you can. It was a tight fit, but we were able to get everything into the Unlimited Rubicon JK. | Adding to the Zone coil spacer... Adding to the Zone coil spacer kit is the shock upgrade option, which includes a set of valve-specific hydraulic shocks. The shocks feature a larger body, piston, and mounting stem (front shocks only) than the factory gas-pressurized units and are also slightly longer. |
Before beginning the installation... Before beginning the installation we measured the distance from the bottom of the fender to the ground and came up with 35 inches. That's a respectable fender height for a production vehicle but we wanted a bit more to avoid any tire rubbing issues with the 33s. The Rubicon uses 32-inches in stock form. | The rear coil spacer was installed... The rear coil spacer was installed above the rear coil spring. The spacers feature a UV stabilizer so they won't break down over time. Zone Offroad Products also completed testing to ensure that the correct durometer material was used to achieve the greatest overall performance. | The rear bump stop extensions... The rear bump stop extensions were bolted to factory holes in the bump stop pad on the rear axle. |
With the rear shocks in place,... With the rear shocks in place, the installation was complete. | With the 33x12.50R17 Mickey... With the 33x12.50R17 Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ Radial tires on 17x9 MT Classic Lock wheels mounted to the JK we took some after measurements to see if the Zone spacer kit delivered as promised. Sure enough, our fender to ground clearance increased to 37 inches. | The 33x12.50R17s were mounted... The 33x12.50R17s were mounted on a set of MT Classic Locks with 4.5 inches of back spacing. This placed the tire and wheel partially under the fenders with just the sidewalls peeking out. The wider stance afforded by the wider tires was immediately noticeable-especially during cornering-and will aid the JK in tackling V-notch type obstacles on the trail. |
The rear tires and wheels... The rear tires and wheels filled up the JK's wide rear fender wells nicely with ample room for articulation without excessive rubbing. The Classic Lock wheel features a bolt-on simulated bead ring that can be ordered in various shades to color match to the vehicle color or simply add an attractive accent. We've also seen the MT Classic Lock and Classic II wheel powdercoated black, which also provides a great appearance. | Though we didn't make a drastic... Though we didn't make a drastic change in tire size we still wanted a matching spare so we wouldn't have to make a mad dash to the tire shop rolling on one smaller-sized tire. The 33x12.50R17 is a good fit on the stock spare rack, even leaving the third brake light in view. Anything larger and we'd need an extended mount or an aftermarkert bumper with a spare rack. | With the Zone Offroad Products... With the Zone Offroad Products 2-inch spacer kit in place along with the 33x12.50R17 Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ Radial tires on 17x9 MT Classic Lock wheels, this JK now boasts improved ground clearance and a wider track, two aspects that aid in its trail tackling abilities. |
