1998 Jeep Cherokee Transfer Case
JB Conversions' NP231HD is built with every possible strength upgrade including all that is available through the aftermarket and original equipment manufacturer (NVG). They begin with a bare, empty case and fill it with new components, including a genuine Borg-Warner Morse wide chain; wide-tooth main sprocket and front output shaft; 6-pinion planetary gear set; new bearings, seals, small parts, filter pickup, thrust washers, etc.; and a heavy-duty SYE kit with a 32-spline output shaft that makes this the shortest and strongest 231 available today. No front driveshaft modifications are required so the existing front output yoke can be used.

1998 Jeep Cherokee Rear Axle
Currie Enterprises' crate 9-inch rear end for the XJ Cherokee comes complete and ready to install. Ours came with disc brakes, 4.10 gears and an Eaton/Detroit TrueTrac limited slip differential. I asked that the spring pads not be welded on so Mount Logan could set pinion angle once the rearend was in the Cherokee. Currie even includes a Lokar emergency brake cable that works just as well in Jeeps as it does in high-zoot street rods.

1998 Jeep Cherokee Sierra Performance Series
For seamless all-around use, the Eaton/Detroit TrueTrac works very well. It's a helical gear limited slip that doesn't wear out and will just about lock up completely when preloaded a bit by applying the brakes. Mount Logan Off-Road installed 4.10 Sierra gears in the XJ's reverse Dana 30 frontend.
