It took a lot of heat to get the pipe cherry red and soft enough to bend. Note that the gas tank is right next to the pipe. Even though there's a heat shield in front of the gas tank, this process should be undertaken with caution. | The BDS extended sway bar... The BDS extended sway bar links have a slick quick-disconnect feature. When disconnected, the sway bar tucks into a BDS support sling. Disconnecting or re-connecting the sway bar is a tool-free process. | The BDS suspension system... The BDS suspension system is compatible with JKS Manufacturing's popular ACOS adjustable coil seats, which Jay added a few weeks after the initial suspension installation. |
Rock sliders are required... Rock sliders are required if you want non-wrinkled rocker panels at the end of the trail. Jeff Simpson of Simpson Fab created this set. Simpson tied the front slider mount to the side support plate of the BDS crossmember. This was a slick and wise decision, as the BDS plates are more than strong enough for this added stress. The rear mounting plates bolt to the vertical face of the uni-body frame rail. | Why ramp test when you can... Why ramp test when you can do a real-world flex test in the dirt? Articulation is in generous supply, and the on-road stability and ride quality are equally impressive. The quick-disconnect sway bar unlocks extra articulation in the dirt, and keeps the XJ stable when re-connected for the road. Since this suspension works so well both on- and off-road, it's ideal for those who drive their rigs to and from the trail. | |
