The PowerStep from AMP Research...
The PowerStep from AMP Research greatly eases entry and exit from lifted Jeep Wrangler JKs. It is available for 2007-and-newer four-door JKs and offers an easy installation with minor drilling.
Believe it or not, for some, a stock Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited is too tall for easy entry and exit. Add a mild suspension lift and that door opening may as well be on the moon for those who are vertically challenged or disabled, or simply for those who don’t have the spring in their steps that they used to. While many bolt-on entry steps are available to ease access to the cab, AMP Research has a much better solution: the retractable PowerStep.
We really like the concept of the PowerStep and have enjoyed using it on a variety of trucks and SUVs. When the door is opened the PowerStep extends out to create a solid foothold for vehicle entry and exit. When the door is closed PowerStep retracts so ground clearance is maintained. To ensure easy entry at night PowerStep features an integrated LED system that illuminates as the step extends.
Each PowerStep platform uses...
Each PowerStep platform uses a dedicated, OEM-quality electric motor at each pivot bracket (two per platform). A plastic cover is included with each motor to maintain weather-resistance.
While the PowerStep will be a great fit for many JK owners, it isn’t up to the task of hardcore trail rides. The PowerStep doesn’t offer traditional rocker protection like a rocker guard does and acts only as a step to ease ingress and egress to the front and rear cab areas. The steps aren’t designed to support the weight of the vehicle and shouldn’t be used as a jacking point or be expected to protect the body panels on boulder-strewn trails. They are, however, very cool entry steps for those who enjoy backcountry trails and use their Jeep Wrangler JK for weekend adventures off the pavement.
If you need some assistance getting in and out of your Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited, then the AMP Research PowerStep will serve you well.
